Type Space Design

This project is about the exploration of 2d space through the use of 'Type.' We generally think about type as a form of communication. We assemble words on a page in an order to create meaning. But type is more then just a symbol of language. Type is an image, in and of itself. For this project you will be creating 6 images exploring the use of Type as the 'brush'. Look at the positive and negative space each letter creates on a page. How do letters interact when overlaped, turned and zoomed in apon? How can they be assembled into a collage? Can you create an art piece with depth and meaning out of Type?
whats due:
- 6 Images at 2000 x 1600 px each created in Flash saved as .FLA's
- 6 Final images saved as TIFF's. Each image 8 x 10 @ 300 dpi
- All 12 images in a folder with your name on in saved on your thumb drive.
- Your final images need to be uploaded to your Flickr account and sent to the Art216 group.
Guidelines
* You have to use Flash for at least part of this project. (you may use photoshop for further manipulation after Flash)
* You may only use Type as a drawing form (so get creative)
* The image must print beautifully for full points
* This project is not about saying something with the type but more creating a visual using type
What should you do?
Make 6, 2000 x 1600 px images in Flash saved as .FLA's. Create (Draw, Manipulate, Design) on each of those pages using Type only. Export the images from flash as bitmap files. Bring them into Photoshop and manipulate (color correct, ect..). Save the files in the correct format and put them into an folder that has your name on it.
